Hidden on the southern shore of Lake Brunner. Surrounded by some of the oldest protected podocarp rainforest in the world. Lake Brunner Eco Lodge is a classic wilderness retreat. With native birds and plants, glow worms, waterfalls and one of the best stargazing spots on the West Coast.

Built in 1935, the historic lodge will have you wowed with its inviting interior. Features of elegant Rimu paneling, regal fireplaces throughout, cozy nooks for reading and relaxing. Elegant decor reflecting the times and geography of the Mitchells area. Both in regard to its milling history and the West Coast climate. The lodge features large windows throughout so that the surrounding forest and lake can truly be appreciated, no matter the weather.

Carew Falls Walk

Take a walk to Carew falls 30 minutes each the start just meter’s away from the lodge. Wind your way up the gravel path emersed in native bush, listen the the flowing water and native birds while you enjoy this easy walk to a magnificent water fall. Take a picnic and spend some time enjoying the area.

Privileged to be surrounded by native forest whilst having uninterrupted access and views of Lake Brunner. The Lake Brunner area and beyond offers many ways to explore and be a part of nature, and the knowledgeable team are able to lead and coordinate an excursion to suit all tastes. They have their own world-class fly-fishing guide to assist in exploring Lake Brunner for brown trout and salmon in the surrounding Crooked, Arnold, Ahaura and Taramakau rivers. Perhaps you are a night owl and want to see the most spectacular display of glow worms after sunset or the spectacular night sky.
