Travelling between the North and South Islands, the 92 km (approximately 52 nautical mile) journey between Wellington and Picton is a true icon of Kiwi travel.
Interislander currently operates two main vessels (the Kaitaki and Kaiarahi) following the retirement of the third ship. Both carry passengers and vehicles — simply drive on at check-in and drive off at your destination, without luggage restrictions for vehicles.
