Full Day Tours
Crème de la Crème
The title of this outstanding kayaking trip says it all! Putting it simply – the best of the best! Experience the beauty of your surroundings on a water taxi to Onetahuti. From here you will kayak the azure waters to Tonga Island – home of the inquisitive NZ Fur Seal (kekeno) and the shy Little Blue Penguin (kororā).
Disembark from your paddle at beautiful Bark Bay where you can enjoy lunch and cool off with a swim in the crystal clear sea.
Your unguided afternoon walk south will lead you through the most renowned walking section of the National Park. This stretch of the track is bursting with picture perfect scenery and features that are sure to take your breath away.
Oar-some Marine Reserve
So much to see in this spectacular one day guided adventure! On a high tide, explore the dreamy depths of Shag Harbour where you can get up close and personal with the resident NZ Fur Seal (kekeno). Kayak to Tonga Island and spot the NZ fur seals basking on the rocks and playing in the waters around you. The heart of the National Park offers many gorgeous tidal lagoons and multiple choices of golden sand beaches for you to relax and enjoy your lunch and freshly brewed coffee. Sail to Anchorage in the afternoon sea breeze and finish your day with a water taxi ride back to Marahau.
Start your day with a water taxi ride to Torrent Bay via the iconic Split Apple Rock. Enjoy your unguided walk through native flora to Cleopatra’s Pool, a hidden taonga (treasure) of the Abel Tasman, and on to Observation Beach. Here you will meet your friendly guide for your afternoon kayak who will lead you through the sheltered Astrolabe waters, visiting the NZ Fur Seal (Kekeno) at Adele Island. As the afternoon sea breeze builds, sail your way back into Marahau.
Be mesmerised by the secluded golden sand beaches as you kayak along the Astrolabe Roadstead. Stop for lunch at one of these beaches and enjoy a swim and a short walk to truly appreciate the breath taking scenery surrounding you. Visit the very special Adele Island – a protected bird sanctuary that echoes with the sound of a multitude of native birds and home to the playful and curious NZ fur seal (kekeno). As the afternoon sea breeze builds, conclude your day with by sailing you kayak across the bay back into Marahau.
Earth, Sea, Sail
Our Earth, Sea, Sail kayaking tour allows you to experience the astounding elements in one captivating adventure. Start your day with a water taxi to Torrent Bay where you will begin your unguided walk along the most renowned walking section in the park. This stretch of Earth is bursting with picture perfect scenery and features that are sure to take your breath away. From Bark Bay you will touch the sea as you enjoy your guided kayak along the mesmerizing granite coast, and experience water in many forms – the sea, the rivers and the lagoons (tides permitting). Let the afternoon sea breeze fill your sail and drift your way into Anchorage.
Indulge yourself in the two elements, the water (wai) and the land (whenua), of the beautiful southern section.
See a magnitude of lush, golden beaches and find yourself in the slice of paradise you have only ever dreamed about. Visit Adele Island, ringing with a chorus of native birdsong and spot the NZ Fur Seal (kekeno) sun-bathing on the rocks and chasing the wake of your kayak. Spend time taking in the fresh coastal air as you walk through the native surrounds of the National Park.
Multiple look out points, echoing birdsong and the many golden sand beaches make this walk one you will never forget.
Pure Abel Tasman
Experience the length of the park the easy way! View the breath taking National Park from a water taxi and be mesmerized by the beautiful coastline and bays. On board the water taxi your skipper will showcase and share their wealth of knowledge about the park’s history and highlights, visiting special phenomena such as Split Apple Rock and Tonga Island. Cruise your way back to Bark Bay where you will disembark and either enjoy an hour of beach time or go for a short walk before meeting your friendly guide for your afternoon kayak tour. Take in the sculptured granite coastline, multiple lagoons (tides permitting), Falls River Swing Bridge and Pinnacle Island Seal Colony in you small guided kayak group. Sit back and enjoy the afternoon sea breeze as you sail your way into Anchorage and will end your day with a water taxi back to Marahau.
Half Day Tours
Magic in the Middle
The heart of the park is a chest of hidden treasures. Kayak from Bark Bay and be mesmerised by the sculptured granite coastline, multiple magical lagoons (tides permitting) including Falls River Swing Bridge and Pinnacle Island Seal Colony. Sit back and enjoy the afternoon sea breeze as you sail your way into Anchorage where you will end your day with a water taxi back to Marahau. Truly magical!
Tonga Seal Haven
Kayak offshore from Onetahuti to encounter the playful and curious NZ Fur Seal (kekeno) at Tonga Island – the true treasure (taonga) of the Marine Reserve. Take in the naturally formed coastline as you venture south to Bark Bay.
You can choose what time you return to Marahau by water taxi – either 12.45pm, 2.15pm or 3.45pm. (the later taxis allows you to spend more time at Bark Bay beach)
Enjoy a half day kayaking tour, taking in the breath of the southern coastline. This serene stretch of water encompasses an amazing amount of golden sand beaches and the phenomenon of Adele Island – Abel Tasman’s very own bird sanctuary and home to an abundance of NZ Fur Seals (kekeno). Once you’ve reached your destination of Observation Beach relax on board a water taxi back to Marahau.
Multi Day Tours

The R&R Indulgence options give you the choice of where you stay and what you do! These trips are purely private and are purely indulgent! Stay on board the Aqua Packers (floating backpackers), Awaroa Lodge (luxury eco lodge) or even charter a sailing boat! Spend your days kayaking the serene waters of the Abel Tasman, walking and exploring the best parts of the coastal track or even lounging about at your accommodation location or on board your sailing boat.
Oar-some Kayak and Walk
Treat yourself to this amazing two day kayak and walk. On your first day, join the Oar-some Marine Reserve one day tour and finish your day in Anchorage where you will be taken to your accommodation on board the Aqua Packers, floating backpackers. Enjoy a hot shower, barbecue dinner, continental breakfast and a cosy cabin or dorm bed. Wake up refreshed and ready for your unguided walk south to Marahau (12.5km) through the canopies of native flora. Take in the breath taking views from the lookout points and be sure to stop and enjoy the many golden sand beaches along the way.
