Lake Brunner/Moana

Lake Brunner and the surrounding rivers and streams have some of the best trout fishing in the South Island, with year-round fishing in the lake. The water playground of the Central West Coast, Lake Brunner accommodates all forms of boating and water sports. Scenic lake tours are available year-round and there are many great spots for picnicking on the lake edge. The township of Moana nestles on the shores of Lake Brunner with the Southern Alps and native forests as a backdrop. There are many wonderful bushwalks in the area with birdlife, many varieties of native trees, orchids, mosses and ferns. The town is well serviced as a holiday destination with excellent accommodation, licensed café, local hotel and service centre for motoring needs.
